Zoo!

It was a busy weekend last weekend! On Sunday evening, the place where I work hosted a party at the Denver Zoo for all of our employees! It was closed to the public, which was great because it was MUCH less crowded than usual. Some of the animals were inside eating dinner, but we still were able to see some fun things!

I think this is a seal

and I think these are sea otters
(feel free to correct me if I am wrong!)

Camels

A baby mountain goat!

The little penguins are my favorite!

Lions

There was even a baby giraffe who was only about 3 weeks old! He was SO cute!

And Mr. Polar Bear! Isn't he cute?!

(There was also a baby snow leopard, but I wasn't able to get a great picture of him)

It was a little cloudy and overcast, so my pictures didn't turn out great, but we had a good time!

Women of Faith

Last weekend I was blessed with the opportunity to attend a Women of Faith conference here in Denver. It was AWESOME. Women of Faith is an organization that travels throughout the country putting on Christian conferences for women. It can be compared somewhat to the men's Promise Keepers conference. The program in Denver is held at the Pepsi Center and was sold out, meaning about 17,000 women were there!

(It was hard to get a good picture inside the arena)
The thing I love the most about Women of Faith is the incredible stories and testimonies the speakers share. Many of them have been through horrific circumstances but use those experiences to reach out to others and share their faith. Their ability to be real to the audience is so encouraging and inspiring to me. And Nicole C Mullen was there this year! She is a Christian recording artist and is so good.

Also speaking at the conference this year was Beth Moore. She is a Christian author and Bible study leader and was SO GOOD! If you ever have the chance to hear her speak, go! She is so passionate and on fire for God and is truly blessed with an amazing understanding of Scripture.

It was a great weekend!

Jury Duty!

Well, I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. I received a jury summons! It came in the mail several weeks ago, and my jury duty date was today. Thankfully they let you call in the night before to see if you have to go in, and my juror number wasn't called. So I got to stay home instead! It has been a good, productive day!

I have been finding Oscar here all day long. That boy loves the sunshine!

And just a cute picture of Daisy. It is a beautiful day here in Colorado, and I hope everyone is well!

Welcome Fall!

To celebrate the first day of fall yesterday, Jason made his first pumpkin pie of the season. Yum yum!

Free Dinner!!!

From time to time, because I work in healthcare, I get invited to free dinners sponsored by drug reps. They are usually at fairly upscale restaurants that I would not ordinarily go to. Last night, one of the drug companies we work with sponsored a dinner at Elway's here in Denver, and it was SOOOOOO good! It is a steakhouse named after the famous Denver Bronco John Elway. For appetizers, we had shrimp cocktail, calamari and some other type of finger food. I had a Caesar salad, a filet for dinner with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and creamed corn. MMMMMMM! And then for dessert, they made their own Ding Dongs! And it is even called a ding dong on the menu! It was a great meal (and free!), and the presentation was even good. Yay for a great free meal!

(Sandy, I am sorry to say that I did not take any pictures of my meal. )

A sure sign fall is here......

Every year, at the beginning of September, Jason starts looking for eggnog in the store. So imagine his excitement when he found this on our trip to the store on Friday night! (yes, we are that exciting that we do our grocery shopping on Friday night)

I don't really like egg nog, but he thinks it is wonderful. He already polished off this carton and is ready for more!

Some pictures of pugs relaxing in the sun this weekend!

And some pictures from this evening

And last (but certainly not least!), I received my Pay It Forward gift from AM today! I was so excited to get it, and I love it! I don't want to give it away, in case others have not received theirs. I have not been able to use it yet but I cannot wait. Thanks so much!

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

My First Try with Blogger Video......

Well, my attempts to upload Blogger video were a failure. Has anyone else had trouble?

My Thursday Night Fun.........

Guess what I did on Thursday evening? I put out my fall decor! I don't have lots of fall things, but I was very excited to get them out. I love fall decorations!

And I also made cookies! I found a recipe for Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Softies on Divine Domesticity's blog, which I found through Alfred's Mom's blog. They are really, really yummy. I love to bake, and what I usually do after baking is take all of the cookies to work so they don't sit at home and tempt me. Because I probably could eat all of the cookies in one day....and I wouldn't put it past myself. But they have to be somewhat good for you, because there were 3 cups of oats in the recipe! We won't talk about all the butter........

So my Thursday was very productive. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! A cool front is moving into Colorado, so the high in Sunday is supposed to be in the 70s. Yay cooler weather!

Whoa......

I had a VENTI cinnamon dolce latte from Starbucks this morning. I never get a venti, but a drug rep brought us drinks this morning. And who is going to turn down a free venti latte from Starbucks? NOT ME, that's for sure! Does a venti have 2 or 3 shots of espresso? Whatever it is, I am sure feeling it, because I am bouncing off the walls here at work. I am feeling good!

Today's the day......

So today is the day I am planning to start a running program. I really hate running, but I really want to get in better shape and lose some weight to improve my cycling. Several people have told me about the "Couch-to-5K Running Plan," so I am going to start with that and see how it goes. Wish me luck!

Update: Ugh, just kidding. I just can't drag myself outside. Jason is not home tonight, so maybe when he is here we will motivate each other to jog. Or maybe I should go first thing in the morning. Or maybe I shouldn't jog!
