Birthday Fun!

We celebrated my birthday on Friday by taking the day off and skiing! Since moving to Colorado, I have learned to ski and really enjoy it. We typically are only able to go on Saturdays, so it is a treat to be able to go on a weekday. It was a great weekend!

On Friday we skiied at Vail. It was a really nice day, and we had a good time, but it was pretty crowded (as many of the ski resorts around here are). We spent Friday night in Avon, a mountain town about 10 miles from Vail.

A beautiful view from the top of the mountain

On Saturday, we skiied at Beaver Creek and LOVED it! It is not as well known as Vail, but is really nice and was MUCH less crowded this weekend. Plus, a snowstorm had moved through over night, so there was nice fresh POWDER for us to ski in! We had a really great time on Saturday and are already looking forward to our next day at Beaver Creek!

Saturday started out cold and snowy but turned into a really nice day.

We stopped early on Saturday, because our legs were sooooo tired from skiing on Friday. We aren't really conditioned to skiing yet this season.

We had a professional picture taken on Saturday of ourselves, but we have not decided which one to purchase. Any suggestions?

So we are ready to host any of you skiiers out there! I asked Jason this weekend if he felt spoiled to live close to such great a great skiing and vacation destination. I truly love Colorado and feel so blessed to be here!

On Sunday night, I hosted a girls-only Oscar party. It was SO fun! We were suprised by some of the winners, and I cannot believe how long they drag the show out, but we had a great time together.

Hope you all have a great week. Thanks for the birthday wishes!

My Fortune

I found this fortune in my fortune cookie last week:
"You'll have so much money that you won't know what to do with it."
Yessssss!!!

Dyson anyone?

Do any of you have a Dyson vacuum cleaner? I have been wanting one but am not sure that it is really that much better than a regular old vacuum cleaner to justify spending that much money. I am just tired of the pug hair everywhere. Let me know what you think if you have one please! Thanks!

It WAS a Happy Valentine's Day!

Jason and I had a very good Valentine's Day. For dinner, he made steak and crab legs, which we ate by candlelight as we listed to Josh Groban. Then we watched American Idol and went to bed relatively early. All in all, it was a very quiet and relaxing evening, exactly what I like.

And Jason did a wonderful job on a gift (I think I will keep him)! He gave me a gift card to a spa--which is something I have never done before! I am SO SO excited and cannot wait until I am able to use it. I am thinking of getting a massage and pedicure--but do you guys have any suggestions? I have heard that the hot stone massages are nice. Help!

Here are some of the cards we received, from family and friends. Jason gave me the pug card, and the other doggy card is from Daisy and Oscar. They are such good little puggies!

And these cards are from one of Jason's sisters and her three girls. Hope everyone had a good Valentine's day!

"You Are Loved"

I heard the most AMAZING song on the way to work today and thought it was applicable to today (and every day for that matter). One of Jason's Christmas gifts was the new Josh Groban CD, and I finally listened to it this morning. I LOVE Josh Groban, and this song is SO AMAZING! The following words are the words to the song "You Are Loved."

"You Are Loved"
by Thomas Salter
Performed by Josh Groban

Don't give up
It's just the weight of the world
When your heart's heavy
I will lift it for you

Don't give up
Because you want to be heard
If silence keeps you I
I will break it for you

Everybody wants to be understood
Well I can hear you

Everybody wants to be loved
Don't give up

Because you are loved

Don't give up
It's just the hurt that you hide
When you're lost inside I
I'll be there to find you

Don't give up
Because you want to burn bright
If darkness blinds you I
I will shine to guide you

Everybody wants to be understood
Well I can hear you

Everybody needs to be loved
Don't give up

Because...you are loved

Don't give up
It's just the weight of the world

Don't give up
Everybody needs to be loved

You are loved

If you are a Josh Groban fan, you NEED to hear this song! I love it and found it brought me comfort and peace today, and may you all find peace as well.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Monday, Monday.......

Well, it was a blah weekend and a blah Monday. I don't mean to sound complainy, but that is kind of how I feel.

Friday night, our young adult group at church hosted a father/daughter dinner which was fun. I made heart-shaped cookies and brownies for the dessert table. We served food and then cleaned up after the dinner. It was pretty fun.

Cookies I made for the dinner. I love to bake!

Saturday was not too exciting. I did work at a local diabetes expo in the afternoon for some extra money. I am not even sure what we did Saturday night. I thinkwe ate hamburgers from the grill and watched "Little Women."

Sunday was church, then LOTS of errands, then a meeting. And now it is Monday again. Why do the weekends go so fast?!

Excuse my melancholiness--my hormones are all whacked out, but nothing a few days won't fix. If only I could skip work...............................................

Still Winter Here

The past two mornings have been foggy and cold, so the moisture in the air has been freezing on the grass and trees. Yesterday, the trees in our yard had really cool ice formations on them, so I tried to snap some photos. I haven't yet mastered the art of the macro setting, but here are some of the pictures I took. Any suggestions on macro photography would be greatly appreciated!

Hope everyone has a warm and safe weekend, especially our friends in the Northeast who are getting pounded by winter!

"No, Mom....."

"...I was NOT trying to eat that tampon that you see there."

(Actually she was, and this was the second tampon-eating attempt of the morning. While I was in the shower, I looked out and she had one unwrapped and partially chewed up). You silly girl! Guess that is what I get for leaving them laying around on the floor.

The Cutest Pugs Ever!

So I am a little biased, but you have to admit, they are pretty cute!

Daisy and Oscar were lounging in the sun today, and I snapped a few pictures. I love pugs in the sun!

Today has been a great day! We slept in and have just been taking it easy most of the day. I love days like this! I spent a good part of the day scrapbooking and have made some pretty good progress. And we even went to the gym! Now we are winding down and planning on watching a movie or something.

Hope all of you are having a good weekend!

Brrrrrr!

It is COLD here in Denver! We actually reached a record low for Denver this morning, at about 5:30 am, of -18 degrees! Brrrrrrr. We are supposed to get up to 7 degrees today, but the next two days will be a little warmer, and then Monday is forecasted to be the 40s. Woohoo! I was laughing at myself several days ago. My car was sitting outside in the sun, and when I left work, I cracked the windows open because I was hot. What was the temperature outside? 42 degrees according to my car thermostat! You know it has been cold when 42 feels balmy!

TGIF! I am looking forward to a day full of scrapbooking tomorrow with a good friend and then Super Bowl Sunday. Lots of fun and lots of relaxing. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Living in a Winter Wonderland

This picture is from our first snowstorm of the season, but we are expecting our seventh snowstorm in seven weeks this evening through tomorrow. It is only forecasted to snow a couple inches, but we are tired of snow! The good thing about this storm is that it is snowing more up in the mountains, where we really need it. The snowpack in our mountains is what provides us with much of our water supply in the summer, so we are thankful for snow up there!

Everyone keeps saying all this snow is very unusual for Denver, for which I am thankful! A typical winter in Denver, consists of a few small snowstorms that typically melt the next day. That is why we live in Colorado and not some other state where they have bitter cold and snow all winter. Our high tomorrow is forecasted to be 7 degrees! We aren't used to this! It has been very beautiful. But enough already!
