Life with Pugs

So Tired.....

Well, I am supposed to be at work right about now, but instead I have a dead battery. My wonderful husband is coming to save me, because we can't seem to get the number for State Farm's 24 hour emergency roadside assistance. Blah.

This feels kind of like the last straw in what has been a stressful April. Much of this stress was brought upon by myself, but it has still been stressful nonetheless. I have avoided blogging about it, probably because I don't want to think about it any more than I have to. There have been two BIG projects staring me in the face, but that is almost behind me. This coming Saturday, I have to take a BIG certification test for work that covers anything you could ever want to know about diabetes. Wouldn't be such a big deal, but it cost $350 which means I do not want to fail. But I also do not want to study, because it feels like it covers such a wide spectrum of information that I could never know it all, so I feel like giving up before I even start. So that is stressing me out. Then, on top of that, I was foolish enough to agree to organizing the food for our annual ladies' tea at church. The good news there is that it was this last Saturday, so at least it is behind me. When I was asked to do this job, I totally forgot about the test, then when I realized the two were only a week apart, I felt it was too late to back out, because I had already committed to it. It all worked out beautifully (I had LOTS of great help!), but it was still stressful to me organizing and planning it all. I actually like doing that kind of thing, but the two big projects combined have been overwhelming. So overwhelming that I had these mini-anxiety attacks where I was short of breath and had chest pain from time to time. That has never happened to me before, so it was a little freaky.

But at least there is a light at the end of the tunnel. After the test this Saturday, I plan to go get a pedicure. What I really need is a massage AND a manicure AND a pedicure. But I will try to use some self-control. Maybe I should buy all three pairs of shoes after all!

Thanks for listening to my rant!

The Great Shoe Debacle

So I have received the first two pairs of shoes, and I think I am going to have to go with one of the Privo styles. The Keens are definitely cuter but not quite as comfy. The Privos are light and squishy and like walking on clouds. They are fantastic! The last pair I ordered will not come until next week sometime (didn't order them off Zappos--they were on sale on Piperlime, a Gap website for shoes), so I will let you know what the final decision is. Thanks for your input! You guys rock!

New Shoes

Have any of you worn Privo shoes before? I recently purchased a pair of black Privo Comice and LOVE them! They are a brand made by Clarks and are SO comfy!

Since I now have a great pair of black shoes, I thought I ought to add a great pair of brown shoes, which is where I run into a problem. I am not crazy about the Comice style in brown, but I found two other brown shoes that are nice. But I should only keep one! Which is where you come in.......which pair do you like better?

The first pair is another Privo style, and the second pair is made by Keen. I have received the Keens, and the Privos should come tomorrow. In my quest for the perfect shoes, I have discovered a love for zappos.com. They are great--free overnight shipping and free return shipping if you do not like the shoes, plus lots of customer reviews. This could be very, very dangerous!!!

No More Sofa Bed

Well, Daisy and Oscar no longer have their sofa bed. Someone got a little too excited when Mom was gone to work and tore a hole along one of the seams, then proceeded to start tearing out foam and eating it. Punchy, how can your bed withstand four pugs, and ours cannot even outlast two?!

Rest in Peace, Sweet Tigerlily

I just got off the phone with my mom, and one of my sister's sweet dogs crossed over the Rainbow Bridge this evening. Tigerlily was a beautiful, sweet, brindle Staffordshire terrier. She was hit by a car and had internal injuries and bleeding. Nessa took her to Kansas City to an emergency vet, but they couldn't save her.

I don't even know what to say, except that my heart is breaking for Nessa and her little girl. I have no idea what it feels like to lose a pet, but I know it must be so hard. Please keep Vanessa in your thoughts, as well as her other dog, Snatch. I know they will both be lonely tonight.

Winter has Returned

Well, looks like winter is back again in Colorado. It started snowing over the lunch hour and is forecasted to continue through tonight and tomorrow morning. They are forecasting 6 to 12 inches! Wouldn't be a big deal except that I am scheduled to fly out of here tomorrow night, plus my sister and parents have a layover here tomorrow night. Ahhhhh! I am praying for as little snow as possible and clear runways so my family can get in and we can all get out of here!!!!!

Heeeeelllllpppppp!!!

I can NOT stop eating Robin Eggs!

I think I will go to bed now. It is the only way really to stop myself. Speaking of Easter candy, do you guys remember those gross candy eggs that were hard colored candy shell on the outside and gross semi-marshmallow filling on the inside? Those were so popular when I was little, but I don't think anyone really liked them. I haven't seen them in a while--good thing!

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone had a wonderful and blessed day! Our date was great, other than the snow. Growing up in Texas, we NEVER had snow on Easter, so it doesn't quite feel like Easter with snow falling outside. But it was a good day nonetheless!

We went to church this morning, and then had a potluck lunch at our house. We had 10 people (including us) and one almost two-year old little boy. We had quite a spread! We had ham, broccoli rice cassarole, scalloped potatoes, green beans wrapped in bacon, salad, deviled eggs, bread and fruit salad. And of course, yummy desserts. It was SOOOO good, and it was fun to be with friends for the holiday.

My contributions to the lunch (plus ham)--deviled eggs (which I don't like to eat but love to make!)

and placecards! There were really fun to make--I had a good time!

Andrew is almost 2 and LOVED the pugs! He got down on the floor and rolled around with them and fed them parts of his lunch (which they loved!). This picture shows him "tickling" Oscar's feet. It was SO cute--he just giggled and giggled! I think his mommy needs to get him a puppy!

This evening, Jason and I colored eggs. I know, a little late, but we never got around to it yesterday.

Jason takes his egg dying pretty seriously. I don't have the patience to do the two-toned eggs.

He then entertained himself by spinning the eggs.

Two pug tired out by all the Easter fun!

Boy, was I WRONG!

Well, American Idol surprises me once again. Not only did the person that deserves to go home get to stay, the person who I was sure was going home got to stay as well, and Gina was sent home! Some seasons are bad, but I definitely think this one is taking the cake as far as weird and bizarre things happening. I will give it a few weeks and then we'll see if I will keep watching.

Win a Dyson!

Just wanted to share a link I found on-line today. You can win a Dyson! You all know how badly I want one, but I'm too cheap to buy one, so I have my fingers crossed. Despite the fact that there are over 1,000 entries, I am feeling confident. Woo hoo!

And now on American Idol.....

All you American Idol fans out there, what did you think about last night? Who do you think is going home? I definitely have a strong feeling about who will go home tonight (and it probably won't be who actually deserves to go home), but let me know what you think!!!
